MUSEUM OF FEAR

Fear, I feel, is the most used word. It may not be in speech but it is used as a resource for most of our actions and thoughts. It is the driving force that gets us through a lot of situations, sometimes good sometimes bad.
However, we give fear more importance that it's due. We use fear as an excuse. We prevent ourselves from growth due to the presence of the unknown. We avoid taking chances for fear of being a failure.
Fear is nothing but the absence of knowledge.
Instead of fearing unknown outcomes, why don't you dig deep into the root of the growth of fear. See where it leads you. Ask yourself how you got there, what were your actions or reactions, what did you do to overcome those initial situations.
Most times, you will find your fear is baseless. This is because we do not accept something that we are not prepared for. We have acclimatised ourselves into being predictable, settling within our comfort zones and not willing to look at alternatives that mean giving up our routine lifestyle.
I have had to fight many fears in my life time and I'm sure there are going to be many more. But my method has been quite simple.
First, I allow myself to give in to that fear. I accept the consequences and then when I feel powerless, I take control. I begin to fight back. I guess my nature allows me to give as many chances as I can tolerate, but when I'm done, there's no going back.
Then I take responsibility for my actions as a result of that fear. I analyse and try to make amends. A very difficult task, but I am not one to go back on my commitment.
By this time I realise the loss I have incurred and that's when I resolve to regain my self control.
So now, instead of demonising fear, I humanise it. I make it work for me.
If we look at fear head-on, it loses its power over us. Yes, there may be times when you feel helpless, desperate, at the end of the rope. But, if we hold on, we are consciously providing our minds the ability to create a better situation.
We are enabling our hearts to be strong and our brains to go into the fast gears of thinking logically. We then learn to give ourselves priority.
When that happens, you have freed yourself from the clutches of the unknown and made paths into rediscovering new avenues, building on your own strength, overcoming any obstacles that cause you to become weak and look for opportunities of avoiding those things that caused you fear in the first place.
You can then replace your museum of fear with one of wonder, peace and a sense of achievement.
