Ludo or Monopoly

"Life is like a game of monopoly"

A casual line I came across in a tele series, but one that rings so true for many of us. Let me share my take on this insightful thought.

Life for many of us can be associated with two childhood favourite board games.

From childhood till we leave college, we are tacks on the ludo board.

Our every move is determined by something other than ourselves. Depending on our background and upbringing, we may have an easy or even early access to certain benefits and privileges. However, a lot of our experiences depend on the way we use our abilities.

As on the ludo board, we may get an early '6' to start our journey, but how we progress depends on the dice we throw. Of course, there is always the chance of someone knocking us off our place or even overtaking us, but the only consolation we have is that we can always go home!

After college, our lives are played out on the monopoly board.

Here we start with a deposit, by way of a career choice or skill set. The choices we make through the years, helps us to be either very successful or bankrupt.

There is no 'home' we can go back to for solace, or to pull us out of a rut. We need to tackle our problems with whatever assets we have collected or pay a visit to the jail - failure in simple terms.

Depending on the way we handled our relationships and situations, we may find people willing to help us out or negotiate on a bargain, we may get people who take more from us than what we get in return.

And if we do not play to our strengths, there is every chance of us going back to where we started from.

So, here is an opportunity to retrace your past, and make changes to how your life is shaping out.

You might need to sell that white elephant that is really not getting you any rent or change your strategy to avoid paying out more rent than you can afford.

Utilize your resources wisely and invest cleverly.

Never let your guard down because you never know what hand you will be given on the next throw of dice.

Ludo or Monopoly? Which board are you on?
